    The Happening

    For those of us who have lived our lives surrounded by music, not only playing it through the day and into the night, but chasing it to concerts, live venues and record fairs too, the end game is always the same: to take it all home and hear it exactly as it deserves to be heard.

    That is Absolute Sounds The Happening, on the 17th and 18th of October, a couple hundred yards off the A1 at Wansford, Peterborough.

    For over forty years, Absolute Sounds has been defining the art of system building, bringing together the world’s finest audio components to create music systems of extraordinary realism. The Happening is an invitation to experience that philosophy beyond the listening room.

    Tickets are £5 – with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.

    An incredible presence of manufacturers is travelling from all around the world this October, together in one place, for one weekend, something rarely seen in the UK audio calendar.

    Rare Record Dealers

    A record collector’s dream awaits. A small group of specialist dealers will be joining us with their own personal collections, spanning classical, jazz and rock, ready for browsing and buying throughout the weekend.

    Live Forums

    Throughout the weekend, Hi-Fi+ Editor Alan Sircom will host a series of live, moderated panel discussions featuring audio’s foremost designers, engineers, and industry leaders. These conversations offer an exclusive look into the craftsmanship, innovation, and forward-thinking ideas redefining the future of high-performance music reproduction.

    Live Music

    The Happening will be filled with live music across the weekend. Dust Me Down Blues Band bring their Chicago blues, gospel and seventies funk to the stage, while Nizar Rohana and Tony Overwater, a beautiful acoustic jazz duo from Holland, offer a sound that is altogether more enchanting and engulfing.

    Franco Serblin’s Unica arrives in the true spirit of the Sonus Faber founder himself, hand-crafted in solid wood, a singular speaker given a room entirely of its own. Magico brings the sensational new flagship of its S Series, the S7, and visitors will be among the first in Europe to hear it. Audio Research offers a true, accessible way into the brand with the D-80 and LS-2, built for a smaller room rather than a smaller ambition.
