Loud & Clear and Scottish Opera invite you to an exclusive behind-the-scenes event at the Theatre Royal Glasgow on Thursday 29th October.

If you have ever been intrigued by the spectacle, drama and wonderful music of opera, this could be the night for you.

Taking place between performances of Puccini’s Turandot, guests will be welcomed by the teams from Loud & Clear and Scottish Opera for a very special evening exploring opera, music and the magic of live performance.

The evening will unfold in three parts.

Stuart Stratford, Music Director of Scottish Opera, will pre-select a programme of music presented on a reference hi-fi system. Together, we’ll explore the extraordinary dynamic range of a live performance and what it takes for an audio system to reproduce the scale, detail and emotion of music convincingly.

We’ll then explore the operatic voice, discovering what makes the human voice such a remarkable instrument and why opera singers can project over a full orchestra without amplification.

Finally, we’ll venture behind the curtain at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal to discover some of its hidden spaces and stories.

Scottish Opera is Scotland’s national opera company and the largest performing arts organisation in the country. Founded in 1962, it performs across Scotland and beyond. The Theatre Royal Glasgow has been the performance home of Scottish Opera since 1975.

Originally opened in 1867, the magnificent 1,500-seat auditorium is steeped in Victorian splendour and theatrical history. The tour will take in the stage wings and orchestra pit, with fascinating stories along the way about the people, places and processes that bring an opera from page to stage.

This event is an integral part of Loud & Clear’s 30th Anniversary celebrations and It promises to be a fascinating evening for anyone who loves music, opera, theatre – or simply wants to discover what goes on behind the scenes.

Tickets are £15, excluding booking fee.
