If you ask any Hifi enthusiast about how they started their journey into finding their ideal sound, they will always willingly reel off the exact components of their first system. Most people will agree that there is certainly something special to be said about how memorable the “first” in many areas of life can be.
Onkyo A – 9010/ 9110
As the beating heart of any Hifi system the right of amplifier is paramount, just as important is that you get the best possible performance your budget will allow. For these reasons we have carefully selected some entry level integrated amplifiers for any music lover to get started on their own path to building the perfect system.
These two units are the best of their price range and at that range, amazing value for money. With an engaging and energetic performance they both punch above their weight. With an array of analogue connections on board such as four line level inputs, a moving magnet phono pre-amp input, a 6.3 mm headphone output on designated amplification circuitry and a line level output. On the A-9110 there is an additional sub woofer line lever output. Also the A- 9110 has a display for ease of use, both come with a remote control. These are both completely analogue units, to maximize the potential no digital circuits have been used. If not introduced carefully digital circuitry can create unwanted noise on the analogue circuits.
Rega P1
Often we hear people say “you must be pleased that vinyl is back!”. As far as we are concerned it didn’t go anywhere, though we do see more young people showing an interest, therefore picking the best turntable to start with is essential. For us there is only one choice. The Rega P1. Factory fitted with a Rega Carbon Cartridge, no bias to set and available in two stylish high gloss finishes, white and black, the P1 is ready to play out of the box, looks very slick and due to Rega’s long history in making quality decks of all ranges it sounds fantastic.
Fyne Audio F-301
With so many options within this price range picking the the best of the bunch is seldom a simple decision, unless there is something very special on the market. This is one such occasion! The F301 really stands out from the crowd in terms of performance, pricing and styling, as does the rest on the F – 300 range. Coming in three beautiful finishes, walnut, light oak and black ash. The F301 is a two way standmount speaker featuring a ported cabinet and a 150mm mid bass driver and a 25mm tweeter. Whilst being perfect for smaller rooms you get a great sense of scale from these bookshelf speakers. They can be positioned closely to a back and side wall making them particularly versatile in terms of where you can place them.
Pairing with the right amplification is not going to be a problem with these loudspeakers as they are extremely efficient and easy for the vast majority of amplifiers to drive, however the configuration above is a sensational match and truly deserves demonstration.
Its clear to see that our passion is music and getting the best possible replay of it, but it’s not only that. It is sharing our knowledge so others can get much as they can out of their collection and perhaps pass on this passion to other generations. The high fidelity road starts here!!
