Virtual demonstrations at Loud & Clear

Life as we know it has changed. So let’s embrace the change and adapt. Loud & Clear Glasgow will reopen it’s doors (hurrah!) on Thursday 29th April but until then – and beyond then – we are bringing the showroom to you, by way of personal, virtual demonstrations.

We will conduct a live product demonstration, in-depth tech discussion, 360 walkaround and ‘listening’ session via video – WhatsApp, Zoom, Teams, Meet, Duo – whatever your preferred platform is. Just as we would in the showroom but from the comfort and safety of your own living room, kitchen, workspace or any preferred location.

It’s important to remember of course that the actual listening can’t be conveyed virtually over phone/tablet/pc. We can of course facilitate this particular pleasure in the demo room at a time convenient to you, within or outwith opening hours.

We began these virtual dems as a client request during lockdown. This particular customer was looking for something to play vinyl and Bluetooth for his son/daughter-in-law for their new house. He had no experience of Hi-fi retailers and had no real idea of brands or products he wanted.

After clarifying a few requirements – listening preferences, existing musical collections, connected devices/TVs, room size and layout, router position, etc – we set up the system pictured below, Rega Research Planar 3 turntable, Linn Majik DSM (with integrated phono stage) and Bowers & Wilkins 603 S2 Anniversary Edition loudspeakers.

Via WhatsApp with the client and his wife, George performed a shop tour, popped a record on and walked around the Planar 3 turntable, then demonstrated Qobuz and internet radio on the Majik DSM. He then disconnected the DSM and talked our client through the back panel connections, followed by a proper “face to face” chat and questions.

The outcome? A satisfied and assured customer, who thoroughly enjoyed the experience, had a bit of fun in the process and is now confident in his system choice (aside from speaker finish, which he’ll leave to his son and daughter-in-law). And two very happy new home and music system owners!
