Ben Webster – Soulville

Soulville is a classic album by Ben Webster, one of the great tenor saxophonists.
Recorded back in 1957 it is considered to be one of his best works.

Webster was already an internationally recognized jazz musician when he recorded this album, and was definitely at his peak during the recording sessions.

The album features mostly vintage pop tunes, and Webster’s breathy tones are accompanied by a stellar combo, including the legendary Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown, Herb Ellis, and Stan Levy.

Reissued as part of Verve’s Acoustic Sounds Series, which specialises in transfers from analogue tapes and remastered 180-gram vinyl in deluxe gatefold packaging.

This reissue also includes three rare recordings of Webster playing piano, which was the first instrument he played as a young professional musician.
If you’re a fan of jazz, of any kind, you simply can’t miss out on this album.

It is an incredible treasure of sonic beauty that showcases Webster’s intimate, tender, and endlessly expressive style. The sound quality of this reissue is nothing short of astounding, making it a must-have for any serious jazz fan.
