Krystal MC

Replacing Linn’s beloved Klyde MC cartridge was never going to be an easy job, but Krystal, launched in 2016, has done it with aplomb.

Krystal employs many of the mechanical advantages adopted during the development of Linn Kandid, as well as the machined ‘3 point mount’ originally used in the Troika but with a much more lightweight and modern superior rigid skeletal generator. The result is a beautifully musical and balanced cartridge that extracts maximum musical information from the groove. Krystal is fitted as standard on Linn Akurate LP12s.

As with all Linn LP12 upgrades and components, this must be fitted by a qualified LP12 Specialist Retailer (Loud & Clear!). Get in touch to discuss.

Krystal – Moving coil
Krystal uses the design principles of Linn’s leading moving coil cartridge Kandid to capture the minute changes in the record groove, letting you hear every musical detail.

Krystal features a similar approach to minimising mass as Kandid, using a nude design to give the cartridge less inertia so it can react more quickly to the changes in the groove. It also uses the triple-point mounting system for a solid connection to the tonearm headshell, while the aircraft grade 7075 aluminium chassis provides a lightweight, stiff and stable platform for the generator. Even the adhesive used on Krystal was painstakingly selected to provide the most rigid bond possible to avoid any dampening effects.

Whether you specify Krystal on your current turntable or buy it as part of an Akurate LP12, you’re guaranteed to enjoy a more musical performance from all your vinyl.
