John Coltrane – My Favorite Things

John Coltrane’s album “My Favorite Things” is a part of the Analogue Productions Atlantic 75 Series and is available as a 45 RPM 180-gram double LP.

This album was a turning point in Coltrane’s career as it marked the debut of his quartet that included McCoy Tyner on piano, Steve Davis on bass, and Elvin Jones on drums.

This was also the first time Coltrane played the soprano saxophone. The title track of the album became a signature hit for Coltrane, featuring an extended modal reworking in 6/4 time that blended the hypnotic pulsating quality of Indian music into jazz for the first time.

The album also includes Coltrane’s unique rendition of Gershwin’s ‘Summertime’, and a radical harmonic makeover of ‘But Not for Me’.

The album is an excellent introduction to Coltrane’s work and has been mastered directly from the original master tape by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound and pressed at Quality Record Pressings.

For true authenticity, the album also features tip-on old style gatefold double pocket jackets.

If ever there was a classic album…This Is IT!
