Dizzy Reece – Star Bright (Classic Vinyl Series)

£24

Originally from Jamaica, Dizzy Reece went on to become a legendary jazz trumpeter from the mid-50s onwards, and Star Bright is surely one of his finest moments. Recorded for Blue Note in 1959, the album features Hank Mobley on tenor sax, Paul Chambers on bass, Art Taylor on drums and Wynton Kelly on piano, and if the hard bop sound is your thing, you really shouldn’t be without this album in your life. From the loping opening of ‘The Rake’ to the sprightly ‘Groovesville’ and onwards, it’s pure magic on the ears, freshly pressed up for an immaculate listening experience.

This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is stereo, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
