In 1962, Hideo Matsushita – curator at Tokyo’s Bridgestone Museum of Art and LP listening enthusiast – founded Audio-Technica with the vision of producing high quality audio for everyone. And following this vision, he soon created the first truly affordable phono cartridge, the AT-1, in the company’s small flat in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Fast forward almost half a century and Audio-Technica now produce some of the very best yet affordable cartridges we’ve heard. The VM95 range and VM700 series are two of our absolute favourites, producing clarity and detail that vastly exceed expectations.
