Austin Psych Fest

30th Jul 2013

Music festival season has taken me back to April this year when we made the trip over to Austin Psych Fest for the second year running. We hadn’t planned to, until we saw the first wave line-up announcement in December. With some great bands already listed (Black Mountain, Warpaint, B.R.M.C and of course, The Black Angels) along with a new outdoor location (58 acre Carson Creek Ranch), it would’ve been rude not to.

It’s quite a relaxed festival but with plenty to see and do, we took advantage of wandering between stages to soak up as much atmosphere (and music) as we could. We found ourselves especially fond of the river stage that sits on the banks of the Colorado. The photograph on the right should give you an idea as to why we spent a lot of time down there. The natural amphitheatre and stage are just out of shot to the left of this…

As well as the above list, I’d like to commend the following bands (in no particular order) – The Besnard Lakes, Om, The Cult of Dom Keller, Suuns, Wall of Death, Goat, Tinariwen, Night Beats, Golden Animals and The Warlocks.

Ah, the memories. Let’s see what news this December brings…

Loud & Clear Glasgow Vinyl Weekend with Diverse Vinyl Pop Up Shop – Friday 9th & Saturday 10th August

23rd Jul 2013

Our favourite record shop comes to town

Diverse Records are reissuing Eddi Reader – Songs of Robert Burns at the end of August on vinyl. We’ll be having an LP playback of the album from beginning to end on Saturday, 10th August at 4pm. You’ll also be able to pre-order the LP on the day too.

We’ve just heard that John Burns from Pear Audio, who are the Dynavector distributor, will in the shop on Saturday. Dynavector are one of our very favourite cartridge brands.

For two days at the start of August Diverse Vinyl is open for business at Loud & Clear in Glasgow.

All of us at Loud & Clear are very excited to be hosting Diverse Vinyl’s very own pop up record shop in our Glasgow store at 520 St Vincent Street on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th August.

Paul and the crew plan to bring a wide selection of new vinyl, covering rock, pop, classical and jazz as well as a special selection of audiophile recordings all available for you to purchase and take home.

Within the store we will also have a range of turntable based systems where you can hear your new purchases or feel free to bring along some of your own vinyl and hear how it can really sound.

Paul Darwin from Rega will be in store to help with any Rega turntable queries; there’ll also be turntables from VPI and Linn. John Nilsen from Audio Origami will be servicing turntables on the Saturday as well.

If you love vinyl as much as we do, you’ll sure to find something to tickle your fancy: some pristine audiophile vinyl, a new cartridge, turntable, or just a humble record brush.

We look forward to seeing you.

Friday 9th August, 3pm – 7pm
Saturday 10th August, 11am – 5pm

Introducing the new Rega Elicit-R Integrated Amplifier

19th Jul 2013

Loud & Clear is proud to introduce the Elicit-R. The brand new high performance integrated amplifier from Rega.

As you would come to expect from Rega, it was designed and engineered to the highest standard to deliver the best possible audio performance whilst remaining simple to use and easy to setup.

Rega’s recent development work in amplifier design circuitry has allowed them to further advance the Elicit-R performance by using new and improved power amplifier circuits (based around the hugely successful Rega Brio-R amplifier). Combined with FET discrete line pre-amplifiers and a programmable stepped attenuator volume control ensuring greater levels of performance and control over the delivery of power.

Combine this with the output power up to 100 watts per channel, and housed in a brand new custom designed case, this is undoubtably the best performance Elicit to date.

The Elicit-R includes a high quality built in moving magnet phono stage designed to maximise the potential of your vinyl system. A simple switch on the rear panel allows the same input to be switched to a secondary set at line level. This input is specially configured to offer further isolation and reduce noise. This makes it ideally suited for connection of more sensitive products such as an external MM or MC phono stage.

The Elicit-R is also supplied with the new Solaris system remote handset offering full control over this and all of the current R range of electronics.

Available for £1598, the Elicit -R is on demonstration now in Edinburgh & Glasgow.

Linn Akubarik Launch Event – Thursday 18th July

4th Jul 2013

The Glasgow store will be having a launch event for Linn’s new Akubarik loudspeakers on Thursday 18th July, from 2pm till 8pm.

These are fully Aktiv, with a 5 way system than includes 6 channels (2 channels are bridges for the bass system) of built in Chakra power amplification, which are powered by Linn’s latest Dynamic power supply.

There are lots of technological advancements that have gone into the making of these; including trickle down from the reference Klimax design. All with 40 years of Linn expertise.

These can be partnered simply with an Akurate DSM, or you can go all the way up to using a Klimax Kontrol and DS.

We have been very impressed with the Akubariks and think that they are one of the best products in the Linn range. With such competition, that is high praise!

Retail price is £15,600

Come in on the 18th July and hear why we are so taken with them! We think you will be too.

Refreshments will be provided.
