Spare Snare vinyl album playback of ‘Sounds’ recorded by Steve Albini

Thursday 22nd November, from 6pm

Spare Snare Sounds Steve Albini

We always like a bit of local talent in the shop, so are delighted to welcome Spare Snare and Chemikal Underground on Thursday 22nd November for a vinyl album playback evening of the excellent ‘Sounds’.

The ‘Sounds’ album was recorded by Steve Albini (Nirvana, The Breeders, Big Black…) and engineered by Paul Savage (Franz Ferdinand, Mogwai, The Delgados…) at Chem19 recording studios, Blantyre, earlier this year.

Jan Burnett (Spare Snare) and Paul Savage (Chem19) will chat about the album which was recorded by Steve Albini and engineered by Paul in February 2018 at the highest analogue spec. Jan and Paul shall discuss how the album came about, with the support and funding of Creative Scotland, and answer questions with regards the recording and mastering.

We’ll be playing the album on our reference Linn Klimax LP12 turntable through our Exakt Akubarik loudspeaker system, getting you as close to the original mastering suite and recording studio as we can.

The vinyl album will be available to buy on the night, as will the newly released CD version. And of course no event here would be complete without a free prize draw – copy of the album and T-Shirt up for grabs – and some tasty local craft beer from Grunting Growler.

Numbers are strictly limited, so please book at Eventbrite to avoid disappointment and do bring along a print out/electronic copy of your ticket.

If you fancy taking us for a beer afterwards, that’d be nice.
